OpenAI has reportedly raised $11 billion so far at a $1.25 trillion valuation, according to Bloomberg, which cited unnamed sources and was relayed by TechCrunch on November 6, 2026. The $11 billion is part of a larger round that has not closed; Bloomberg’s source said it could total about $20 billion, with closing expected within weeks.

What is reported

  • Target: Bloomberg reported in late September that OpenAI was seeking $30 billion in this round, so the current figures are well short of that, TechCrunch says. The link TechCrunch gives for that report refers to a $1.4 trillion valuation, which the article text does not state.
  • Valuation: TechCrunch’s article of the same day on Ramp data says, citing the Financial Times, that OpenAI lowered its proposed valuation to $1.25 trillion from $1.4 trillion and cut its latest fundraising goals by about $10 billion.
  • Investors: the article names none. It reports no revenue or usage figures.
  • IPO: OpenAI previously indicated it would go public this year but later delayed those plans, and TechCrunch says an IPO is expected at some point next year.

Context

In a same-day Bloomberg report, potential buyers of Anthropic’s IPO shares reportedly saw its valuation as low as $1.1 trillion, against roughly $2 trillion expected about a month earlier, TechCrunch notes; see Lens’s post on that report. Lens published an earlier post on OpenAI’s funding target.

Sources and notes

This post is based on TechCrunch’s “In Brief” by Lucas Ropek (2:53 p.m. PST, November 6, 2026), which relays Bloomberg’s report from unnamed sources, and TechCrunch’s same-day article on Ramp data, which cites the Financial Times for the valuation change. Lens did not read Bloomberg’s or the Financial Times’ reports. TechCrunch says it asked OpenAI for comment and would update the story if it responded; Lens found no OpenAI statement.
