DeepSeek released V4.1-Flash-1017 over the weekend of October 17, an updated model it says is faster and leaner, according to Bloomberg. It is available on the web, in DeepSeek’s app and on its developer platform.

The release pushes the Hangzhou company further into competition with Anthropic, OpenAI and Chinese rivals such as Moonshot’s Kimi and Z.ai.
