Amazon Ends Its Grubhub Agreement and Makes Uber Eats the Restaurant Delivery Option for US Prime Members

Uber Eats has become Amazon’s designated restaurant delivery provider for US Prime members, and Amazon’s agreement with Grubhub ended on Thursday, November 5, 2026, according to TechCrunch.
What changes for Prime members
- Members can order from Uber Eats through Amazon.com and the Amazon Shopping app, with no separate Uber account required.
- Orders over $25 carry no delivery fee, and a launch promotion gives $20 off the first two orders of $25 or more during the first two weeks.
- Prime members can no longer order from Grubhub through Amazon. Members who already activated Grubhub+ can keep using it through December 31, 2027.
Statements
TechCrunch paraphrases an Amazon spokesperson as saying the company continuously evaluates third-party offers and saw an opportunity for “an even better restaurant delivery experience.” A Grubhub spokesperson confirmed the agreement was ending, per the article, which includes no Uber statement.
The earlier arrangement
Amazon and Grubhub made a deal in 2022 offering Prime members a free Grubhub+ subscription. In 2024 it was expanded to make the free membership an ongoing Prime offer, and Amazon agreed with Grubhub’s then-owner, Just Eat Takeaway.com, to raise its equity stake to as much as 18%. The agreement was set to renew annually, and Amazon could receive warrants for an additional stake. Months later Just Eat Takeaway announced plans to sell Grubhub to Wonder, and, according to its annual report, Amazon elected in December 2024 to cash out its outstanding exercisable warrants. Amazon and Uber already have agreements covering cloud computing, Zoox robotaxis and Uber Eats integration into Amazon’s Alexa+ assistant.
